Banff is the epicentre of winter sports in the Canadian Rockies. With the three tri-area resorts: Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise, and Kicking Horse not too far away in neighboring Golden, British Columbia, it offers a skiable area hard to match and an incredibly long ski season (November - middle of May). April skiing can be amazing with very few people and some of the season's best dumps!

Situated in Banff National Park, this quaint mountain town offers a lively apres-ski scene, with more than an amazing selection of over 200 restaurants, shops and bars. A wide variety of lodging options are also found in Banff, including the famous Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, mountain-style apartments and condos, and tourist category lodges and hotels which line the main street, Banff Avenue.

For those looking at apartment/condo lodging in Banff, it can helpful to have a car to do shopping etc, and it also comes in handy for those wanting to do some sightseeing.
• A day of skiing or riding at Kicking Horse in Golden (1.5 hours from Banff), travelling in your own vehicle or by bus transfer
