Last Frontier - Location

The Last Frontier Heliskiing area is one of the most remote heli-skiing areas that we offer, located 3.5 hours northwest of Smithers, British Columbia, in the Skeena Mountains.

The Bell 2 Lodge is located 360 km (220 miles) northwest of Smithers, British Columbia. The small resort of Bell II, situated along the Stewart-Cassiar Highway, is our home for the winter season. The Ripley Creek Inn is located 310km (200 miles) northwest of Terrace, British Columbia. The small town of Stewart is situated at the end of the Portland Canal, opposite of Hyder, Alaska.

The terrain lies between 360 - 2600 metres (1,200 - 8,500 feet) above sea level. There are some 600 runs within the area which covers 9,000 square kilometres (3,500 sq. miles), making it the largest heli-skiing area on the planet. Runs average between 750 - 1,000 vertical metres (2,500 - 3,500 vertical feet) and the longest runs are 2,000 vertical metres (6,00 vertical feet). The quantity and quality of snow and the enormous size of the terrain, offer endless possibilities for glacier, open bowl and tree skiing.

Magnificent glaciers with deep blue ice rolling down into the valleys and untouched peaks so far away from any roads that the only access is via ski plane or helicopter. A rich and vibrant First Nations culture also thrives in this region. The local First Nations villages engage in traditional canoe and totem carving, fishing and smoking, cultural tours and dance.
