Island Lake - Location & Lodging

Island Lake Resort is located near the town of Fernie. Access to the lodge is by snow-cat (45 minutes) with the pick-up point located aproximately 3 km outside Fernie. The magnificent peaks of the Lizard Range in the Rocky Mountains tower over 7,000 acres of privately owned bowls, valleys and gladed meadows, perfect for cat skiing and snowboarding.

With 200 man days spent glading ski runs this summer and thanks to additional terrain from a new tenure extension, tripling the skiing on the backside of Mt Fernie, first timers and veterans can look forward to skiing new & improved runs such as Left Hook and Telefun.

Perched above a picturesque mountain lake, at aproximately 1,350 metres, the three lodges, The Red Eagle, Cedar and Tamarack Lodges, sleep up to 48 guests in 26 rooms. The resort offers a gourmet dining experience, fully licensed bars, an incredible spa and massge therapy service, games room and conference room.

The Red Eagle lodge has 10 cozy rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The lodge features an outdoor hot tub on a large deck off the main level providing great views of the mountains, lake and forest. There are comfortable living rooms on both the upper and main floor.

The Cedar lodge features eight deluxe guest rooms including spacious ensuite bathrooms with a soaker tub and shower, queen beds and a deck off of each room. The lodge features a living room with fireplace, the Cedar Yoga Studio, and a covered deck with a hot tub to soak your tired muscles after a vigorous day outdoors.

The Tamarack lodge built in 2005 boasts amazing views of the surrounding mountains. The eight deluxe guest rooms have spacious ensuite bathrooms with a soaker tub and shower, and a combination of queen and king beds. The lodge includes a spectacular 60 seat dining room, with a 3,000 bottle wine library. The lodge also features the elegant Spa at Island Lake.

There are no phones, computer jacks or TVs in the guestrooms. Just relax, watch the sun set from an outdoor hot tub, or enjoy a massage as you look forward to a gourmet meal. In you must, there is wireless internet available in all the lodges and a guest computer in the conference room.
