Wildlife

We simply ask that you respect all the indications and warnings given by the national, provincial and state parks. If you spot an animal on the side of the road, we urge you not to stop. One reason, is the animals do eventually get habituated to people and cars, which usually ends getting that animal killed. Another reason is that by stopping or slowing down suddenly, you endanger the safety of others on the road. If you do decide you are able to slow and stop safely on the side, most important is that you do not get out of your vehicle and that you move on after a few seconds.

If you are not in your vehicle when you spot wildlife, keep a safe distance (100 metres for bears, cougars, and wolves, 30 metres for elk, moose, and deer. Never feed wild animals (including those cute little chipmunks and birds!) and dispose of all garbage in designated bins. Keep your binoculars and cameras at the ready!
