What to wear
Spring, Summer & Fall (May - October)
Your basic wardrobe should include a warm sweater, polar fleece, sport or hiking pants, a water and wind-resistant shell, and light clothing for warmer days.We suggest dressing in layers as temperatures can change drastically throughout the day. At higher elevations, e.g. the Rockies, and in Alaska and Yukon, some warmer clothing is recommended as well, including a gortex-type winter jacket, warm gloves and hat, especially for the mornings and evenings. Broken-in, comfortable, walking or hiking shoes are more than recommended, in addition to some water-resistant teva-like sandals. If you plan on doing some serious hiking, further gear and outer wear may be required. Formal clothing is not normally required, more important is that your attire be comfortable and versatile.
Winter (November - April)
It can get very cold!! A warm winter coat or ski jacket, thermal underwear for under your regular clothing, water- resistant winter boots with lining, warm wool socks, gloves and hat are all more than recommended. For skiing & snowboarding, all the necessary gear, including ski/snowboard jacket and pants, goggles, thermal socks etc.
