Food & Eating Out
North America offers something for everyone with a wide range of world tastes and cuisine, especially in the larger urban areas. In larger towns and cities, you will find a large variety of restaurants, from fast food to gourmet, whereas in smaller towns, you may find only fast food type establishments and diners. What to budget for food will very much depend on where you are dining and what you tend to eat! On average, for meals out we would suggest budgeting perhaps 15-20$ for breakfast, 20-30$ for lunch and 30-50$ for dinner per person (without beer/wine!). You may save some time and money, by occasionally picking up a picnic style lunch at a local supermarket.
If you are travelling in an RV, it gives you the opportunity to make yourself at home and cook your own simple meals. In supermarkets you will find in general a great selection at reasonable prices. In smaller areas selection may be limited to staples and we suggest stocking up in the larger urban areas at the big chains, e.g. Supersore, Safeway, IGA, and Sobeys.
