Tofino & Ucluelet
In the centre of Clayoquot Sound, Tofino is surrounded by crashing waves and towering rainforests. Recently designated BC's first United Nations Biosphere Reserve, Tofino caters to the outdoor adventurer. Sea kayakers will be delighted with the sights and sounds of the waters in Clayoquot Sound.
40 km from Tofino, named after the Nuu-Chah-Nulth word meaning "safe harbour", you will find the village of Ucluelet. Spring offers the chance to watch gray whales as they migrate down the coast towards the Baja, while summer brings warm days to spend combing the sandy stretch of Long Beach. The cooler days of autumn are perfect for hiking along the coast. In winter, relax by a fire overlooking the beach, watch magnificent waves crash against the rocks on the shores below.
